How To Price A Color Wash

Taking advantage of a Color Wash is a great way to offer your customer many different colored design options while increasing your margins at the same time. So how exactly does a Color Wash work and how is it priced?

A Color Wash is when we're able to produce the same image in multiple colors by washing out the screens instead of exposing different screens for each image. A Color Wash can be used with a 1-color design or a multi-color design, as long as the artwork doesn't change.

For this example, we'll price out an order for the same logo going on two different colored t-shirts, one white and one black. Our customer needs 50 of each.

Without Color Wash

If you were to place two separate orders, not using a Color Wash, here is the breakdown:
50 Adult Full Chest size images, 1 color: white ink, vector artwork: $99.50
50 Adult Full Chest size images, 1 color: black ink, vector artwork: $99.50
Total: $199.00
*Prices are from 2020 Price List

With Color Wash

Using the Color Wash, we can bump up to the 108 image price break, which will save money:
108 Adult Full Chest size images, 1 color: 54 white ink, 54 black ink, vector artwork: $153.36
Color Wash Fee: $10.00
Total: $163.36
*Prices are from 2020 Price List

In this example, we saved $35.64 by taking advantage of a Color Wash and because we bumped up to the 108 image price break, we'll have four extra transfers of each color.
