3 Tips to Make Application More Efficient

Lose the Ruler

I know, you’re a perfectionist. However, to maximize your efficiency you’ll need to throw away the ruler, T-Square, and laser guided thingamajig. You might not trust yourself at first, but eyeballing the transfer placement is your best option. It’ll get easier with practice and experience - promise!

A ONE LOCATION APPLICATION SHOULD TAKE 30 SECONDS OR LESS, AVERAGING 100 APPLICATIONS PER HOUR

The truth is, you could spend 5 minutes getting the transfer perfectly aligned, but the blank shirt you’re printing on wasn’t even sewn straight. Misalignment looks far more obvious when the garment is lying flat than when it’s being worn, so don’t sweat perfection. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

Pre-Sort and Count

Take inventory of your garments before starting application. Count and re-count then sort by garment type and size. When you sort by size you’ll be able to adapt your placement easier. You don’t want to switch between garments, either. By sorting before you start, application will be simple and efficient. Once all of your garments have been completed, then you can sort by individual order if needed.

Use A Quality Heat Press

Using a high-quality heat press will simplify your process in a couple of ways. First, you won’t need to wait for the temperature to rebound after each application. Time is money and having to wait between applications can eat up hours on larger orders.

SHOP INSTA HEAT PRESSES NOW

Second, a heat press with interchangeable and/or threadable platens can be a huge time saver. There’s no need to use a heat printing pillow or silicone pad to avoid seams and zippers if you can just change out your platen or thread the garment.

Lastly, with a reliable heat press you can reduce your spoilage caused by inadequate pressure or temperature. If you really want to get fancy, an automatic heat press will drastically increase workflow and reduce application issues.
